Benefits Consultations

One-on-one consultations – open to all members – enable you to ask questions about your specific situation and receive printed estimates of your retirement benefits. You can meet with a representative either in person or through interactive video.

Our video consultations allow live, face-to-face communication with a representative at System headquarters in Albany via video conference.  It's as easy as watching TV and using a telephone.  There's even a printer that will print your estimate for you at the site.  The only thing we can't do is shake your hand.

The following is the schedule of upcoming 2009-2010 consultations. To find a location nearest to you, either scroll down this page or click below on the first letter of a city near you. Making a Reservation

You now have two ways to book a NYSTRS consultation:

1. Online using your MyNYSTRS account. After logging into your account, select the "My Tools" tab and then "Schedule Appointments." (If you don't already have an account, take a tour.)
2. By calling NYSTRS at (800) 348-7298, Ext. 6100.

In either case, you can generally book appointments up to three months in advance.

Please be sure to bring the following items to your consultation:

• A picture ID (to ensure confidentiality);
• Your most-recent and current salaries by school year (as well as future earnings if projections are desired);
• Any questions you have about NYSTRS benefits. Reviewing your latest Benefit Profile can be helpful in this regard; and,
• If your membership date is before June 17, 1971, information about local incentives or payments for unused sick days.
