  • NYSTRS supports the most up-to-date stable versions of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari. This website may function on other browsers but they are not officially supported by NYSTRS.
  • You can modify the text size in your browser by increasing the zoom. Please note the text in PDF files and images will not change using this approach.
  • Our forms and publications are Portable Document Format (PDF) files. This format allows you to read and print a file exactly as the original document appears. If you are unable to view or print PDFs, you may need to download a free copy of Adobe Reader. Once you have installed the reader, it will open whenever you click on a PDF online.
  • To access your personal NYSTRS benefit information online, you must register for a MyNYSTRS account.

    MyNYSTRS is only for use by the Retirement System's active members, retirees and beneficiaries receiving a continuing benefit. The creation of, or access to, a member's personal MyNYSTRS account by anyone other than the member or retiree is not a permissible use of the platform and NYSTRS will  not grant access to the account.

    Following are the most common reasons members have difficulty registering for an account.

    Multiple Registrations: If you have already registered for a MyNYSTRS account, you cannot register again. However, you can change your password at any time after logging in.

    Incorrect Information Provided: Your registration cannot be completed unless the NYSTRS EmplID, last four digits of your Social Security number and date of birth that you enter match the information in our records. We must also have your current address on file.

    Inactive Membership: MyNYSTRS is only available to active NYSTRS members and retirees. You cannot register if your membership is no longer active (e.g., you have withdrawn from membership or have transferred to another New York State public retirement system), or if you are not a member but are receiving a payment from NYSTRS as the result of a domestic relations order.

  • If you cannot access your MyNYSTRS account, it may be due to one of the following reasons.

    Forgotten Username: If you forget the username you created when activating your account, visit the Forgot Username page. After you enter identifying information, your username will be displayed.

    Forgotten Password: If you forget the password you created when activating your account, visit the Forgot Password page. After you enter identifying information, you may enter a new password and proceed to login.

    Email Address and/or Phone Number are Not Current: A valid email address and phone number are required to access MyNYSTRS. If your email address was found to be invalid, it was removed from our records. You may provide us with a new email address and/or phone number(s) by submitting a MyNYSTRS Account Contact Information (ADM-97) form.
