Mr. Gross is one of three teacher members on the 10-member Retirement Board. First elected to his position in 2017, he chairs the Disability Review committee and serves on the Investment committee.
A longtime NYSTRS delegate and attendee of the System’s annual meeting, Mr. Gross is a teacher at William Floyd Union Free Schools and president of William Floyd United Teachers (WFUT). He has been a member of the WFUT Negotiations Committee since 1995 and currently serves as its chair. In addition to serving as a New York State United Teachers and American Federation of Teachers delegate, Mr. Gross conducts frequent pension and retirement workshops in the southern part of the state.
He earned his master's degree from SUNY Stony Brook and a bachelor’s from SUNY Cortland. He has taught Social Studies at William Floyd, the school from which he graduated, for 30 years.
