Mr. Gross is one of three teacher members on the 10-member Retirement Board. First elected to his position in 2017, he serves on the Disability Review Committee.
A longtime NYSTRS delegate and attendee of the System’s annual meeting, Mr. Gross is a teacher at William Floyd Union Free Schools and president of William Floyd United Teachers (WFUT). He has been a member of the WFUT Negotiations Committee since 1995 and currently serves as its chair. In addition to serving as a New York State United Teachers and American Federation of Teachers delegate, Mr. Gross co-chairs an annual Pension and Retirement Workshop within his district with retired NYSTRS Trustee Timothy Southerton.
He earned his master's degree from SUNY Stony Brook and a bachelor’s from SUNY Cortland. He has taught Social Studies at William Floyd, the school from which he graduated, for 30 years.
