The following is a summary of 2006 NYSTRS-related legislation that has been signed into law.
Claiming Credit for Service Earned in Another NYSPublic Retirement System
Highlights:
- Allows NYSTRS members to obtain credit for service rendered under membership in another NYS public retirement system subsequent to their NYSTRS membership, even if membership in the other system has ceased.
Effective Date: June 30, 2006
Increase in Earnings After Retirement LimitHighlights:
- Increases the post-retirement earnings limit for New York State public employment under Section 212 of the Retirement & Social Security Law to $30,000 for calendar year 2007.
Effective Date: Jan. 1, 2007
